update + mini haul
Tuesday, April 2, 2013 @ 7:04 PM

Today marks the first day of mid semester break which means I'm finally able to blog and it doesn't involve procrastination. I've only got photos of some events so they'll be the only ones I mention in this post.

I hardly ever do DIYs since I'm such a lazy human being but I saw a really quick and easy tutorial by Andreas Choice where she cut up old t-shirts and made them into all these different types of tank tops. No sewing was required and since I had a t-shirt handy I decided to try it out. It really is as easy as it seems.

Comparison photo of how much better it looks if you stretch the raw edges that have just been cut. It rolls up and it seriously looks just like the tops that're sold nowadays at the shops except those are sold at like $40 .. For a cropped singlet. It's like the less fabric it's made of the more expensive it is but of course, people still buy it.

It actually doesn't show any skin at all unless I lift my arms up like the left photo. I cut it so it ended approximately where my shorts start. Was actually going to sell this t-shirt on my blog shop but I guess I might actually wear it now that it's a singlet.

Repainted my nails! Those who follow my instagram would have already seen it. Actually, I post everything on instagram so probably a condensed version of this blog post already exists on there .. It's not inspired by Bubzbeauty's new nail tutorial though many people have asked me haha. It's by ekiblog.com but after seeing Bubz' video it reminded me that I'd been meaning to try out this nail design for a while.

On Good Friday I stayed at my sister's house for the night. I don't actually get to do that very often but seeing as it was a holiday she invited me over. It was organised for the sole intention of playing this seriously addictive board game called Articulate (which costs $50 T___T") and also to make Ferrero Rocher flavoured macarons! Since I was there anyway, I decided to ask her and Tristan to be my actors for my film project since I needed to do it sometime during this break anyway. It is yet to be edited so I hope it all turns out well.

Our macarons turned out to be a failure though I blame my sis since I actually didn't do anything apart from help pipe out a few of the macarons and taking photos hahaha. I'd actually made macarons around about a week or two before this batch so it was my second failure counting this one ..

Unfortunately I have no photos of the end result because 1) they failed so I totally forgot to, 2) we didn't even bother to add filling LOL and 3) we ate them immediately to see if it tasted good since they of course didn't look good. They actually tasted exactly like Ferrero Rochers so at least they were still eaten.

I totally prefer those plastic piping bags over these new expensive aluminium ones. It could've been one of the reasons they failed ..

Also, this macaron tray was probably another reason. We didn't know when to fill it up to so we filled it up to about 3/4 of the way. I guess we put way too much and there was no place for them to expand in those holes so they began expanding upwards resulting in cracks ..

For dinner, another friend was invited over so that when we played board games it'd be 2 vs 2 (I swear that was the only reason BOTH of us were invited - to play Articulate). He even brought us an entree he made which meant we had a cute homemade three course meal that night ^^. The dessert was made after we finished eating the main so it was served about an hour later which meant I forgot to take a photo using my camera .. I did with my phone though and instagrammed it >.>

This wasn't like anything I'd tried before but it turned out to be really nice. It was like roasted pork and prawns with poached plum/grapes. Surprisingly they went really well together.

Pretty sure this was beef stroganoff pasta. I had a much bigger portion than I usually eat but I actually managed to finish it (after taking 5 minute breaks towards the end).

We started playing Articulate at around 9:30 pm and finished at 3:30 am. No breaks in between. Who knew a board game could be that fun. Seriously, for those who have never tried it and want to buy a board game, this is the one to get haha. We're having a rematch this Saturday. Although I have to say it is not fun at all playing with people who suck at describing things. After a few rounds my sister had a silly idea to switch up the partners and all of us ended up being pretty bad. It's all about finding a compatible partner LOL.

---

On Easter Sunday I decided to go to DFO to see if there were any good Easter sales. The Carindale bus stop was super quiet for once which was nice. I decided to ask Trish and ET to come along if they were interested since I'd never bussed there and didn't want to be stranded alone if I ended up taking the wrong route. It's about a half an hour's bus from Carindale which is super convenient so I might go there more often now that I know the way. Purchased six things which I'm quite surprised about because I've never had a successful shopping day at DFO or Harbour Town before so this was my first time.

This first top was the main reason I wanted to go to DFO. It was also the most expensive thing I bought T_T. I'd tried on a size 12 elsewhere and when I tried this size 10 on it felt no different so I assumed even if there was a size 8 it'd be the same. The sales assistant also said she'd tried a size 8 and 10 and the only difference was the length so I decided to get it. No idea how to pair this yet so I paired it with white lace shorts which are on sale on my blog shop. I don't like how the sleeve droops so much although it might be on purpose but I'll probably sew it so it's a little tighter.

White lace bustier from Forever New. I think I'll almost always pair this with a skirt so that it looks like I have many different dresses hahaha.

$5 singlet from T-Bar.

Another cropped top that I'd pair mostly with skirts. I used to hate halternecks or anything that looked like a halterneck but now I think they look really elegant. $5 top by paper heart. I don't think I'll ever see a deal like this again ..

My first suede/faux suede top ^^. I really like the scallop and cutout detailing at the bottom. Also, it actually doesn't show my belly button if I don't lift my arm up like that. Everytime I wear this, I'll always think back to the Mansfield days haha. It's like exactly the same shade of teal.

I was attracted to the tribal print but then I saw the back and it was just too cute. I bought so many crop tops at DFO and I didn't even realise. I also bought a plain grey one from Supre the other day too.

That's all for my post. It was an extremely long one too and I've been updating my blog shop quite regularly - I'm doing so well haha.
